Floating Petals Centrepieces

Our venue is providing round bowls and floating candle in water.  We would like to add rose petals to add a bit of colour.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Did you use fresh or silk flowers?  I've read that freeze dried flowers are the best for this but I don't think that will be an option for us.  Also, how approximately how many petals per bowl would you recommend using?

Re: Floating Petals Centrepieces

  • fresh petals are fine, about 5 to a bowl should be good.
  • Perhaps you can try bougainvillea petals instead of the rose petals. They are a little less expensive and definitely add vibrant color. They are lighter than rose petals and will float even better than rose petals which can sink after sitting in the water.

If you need any more info please let me know. Thanks.
