DIY Flowers!

Hello Knotties!

I am going to be doing my own fresh flowers for my wedding coming up in June, and was wondering if any of you have done this, and what things were helpful for you. I am planning on doing roses, hydrangias, gerber daisies, and another small and delacate flower.
Thanks!

Ypu can also get peonies in June...so beautiful...
do some samples and be very organized and you will have fun...
Arrange them into vases of nice warm water initially then let them cool down in the basement or somewhere cool.
Do some samples early and practice a little.  its fun and rewarding.

If you know anyone with a retail business liscense in new england you can probably get them at the Boston Floral exchange... its awesome... need a resale number and checks from the business but otherwise it's pretty open.

I would suggest you keep it simple, and order extra of each kind of flower, to allow for breakage, or quality issues.  You can always use any leftover flowers in other arrangements, or to give away.

And if you're not very experienced with handling fresh flowers, practice ahead of time.  don't wait until the day before your wedding to take your first try at it.  It's not hard, but takes a little practice, and is time consuming.

FYI, sometimes hydrangeas wilt very quickly, even in water, and other times they do great.  Make sure you have a back up plan and lots of help.
