Invitation inserts question...

I'm putting my invitations together this weekend to be mailed by the end of the weeks so any additions will have to be done by us. I didn't really think about it before, but our directions card is useless for any guests attending ceremony. Should I ditch the pre-printed cards the reception venue gave us and instead print off directions from Church to venue? The address of the venue is supposedly not very GPS friendly.

I also plan to print off accommodation cards with the hotel information.

Would it be best to include these two inserts as two seperate inserts, or print them on the backsides? I'm just concerned about putting so many pieces of paper in the envelope, that it will seem messy. There is already the response card/envelope and the reception card to be included.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Invitation inserts question...

  • I put the accomadation information and direction only on the website. I thought it seemed out of place in the invites and like there would be too much stuff.  The invites do have an insert with the address of the venues and parking information (some parking at the ceremony site is metered parking) as well as our website address asking guests to visit it for additional information.  We also have an RSVP postcard in ours.

I left out a vital piece of information...

We don't have a wedding website so any information my guests need have to be included in the invitations. Trying to figure out how to not make it such a cluttered mess of various insert cards!

My wedding isn't overly formal, so I'm really not concerned about etiquette (I mean, we're getting married at 11am and the guys are wearing tux..gray tux at that!)

Good idea...I'll have to fiddle with our printer and see if it's doable. Thanks!

  • I would try and get it on the backsides of stuff you already have.  Remember the more you put in the more they weigh and the more they cost to mail.  The first ounce for a normal sized envelope is 45cents and every ounce after that is an additional 20cents.

Also the way we got around the directions to the reception venue in the invites, is we are going to put them on the programs at the church.  We also have a website that has directions.  The gps takes you a ton of back roads to get to the reception venue, so we have a similar dilemma.

  • Definitely try to print in the back of what you have or do directions on the programs! I think that's an awesome idea bc then everyone had them the day of! I ended up needing an .85 stamp for mine bc of the weight bc they are square! The postage was more per invite with the return postage than the invites were!
