Flower Budget

Ok, I have looked online everywhere and found the same, basic generic answers. I want a good idea of what I will expect to spend on my flowers (bouquet, groomsmen, bridal party, aisleways, centerpieces, etc.). What I really want is for someone to share pictures with me (possibly from your own wedding), showing the general overal floral scheme and tell me what you spent. This would give me so much more of an idea, rather than "10% of your overal budget." I need visuals so I can see how many flowers were used to spend $2,000, etc...Thanks, very much appreciated!

Prices are going to vary depending on your flowers, season, and region.  I paid just over $1200 in North Florida for:
    1 Bridal bouquet (picture below)
    4 BM bouquets (picture below)
    6 Boutonnières
    3 Mothers corsages
1 Gazebo garland decor (picture below)
3 Large arrangements (2 for buffet, 1 for Hor Dourves table)
13 Small table arrangements (10 for dinner tables, 2 for bar, 1 for guestbook) (smaller verson of my bouquet)
    1 Toss bouquet

To get the best idea on costs, you need to make an appointment with a florist and go in to talk to them. If they're good, they'll give you lots of ideas and they'll show you lots of pictures. Then, they'll write up a quote for you.

I'm from Buffalo, NY (small city), and my quote (from an established florist/landscaping company) was for between $600 and $700. This included:

Bridal bouquet of mini callas, spray roses, hydrangea and delphiniums
3 BM bouquets of mini callas
6 bouts for groom, GM and ushers of a mini calla
1 ring bearer mini mini calla
7 corsages of spray roses for mothers/grandmothers/aunt and FSIL
3 bouts of spray roses (Fathers/grandfathers)
8 vases of hydrangeas to be used with a clip on the back of chairs for the ceremony and without a clip as a centerpiece for the reception
    1 toss bouquet

Mind you, I went to another florist (this time a home-based business) and her quote (which included orchids) was about $1,200.

So, my suggestion is to visit several florists to find which one gave you the best ideas and the best price! A good place to start looking would be your local board. They'll have suggestions on where to go.

    Good luck!

I am in the florist wholesale business and that is a ridiculously low price ... the average wholesale cost on those flowers without markup is around $500 ... I wonder if they are experienced enough to know that going in...

buy experience , good insurance of product...

and you can't do this stuff on line... you have to hit the pavement and see real florists... get a read on their creativity...

There is no way I would try to do this myself. I want very elegant and professional looking (and no stress! haha). Although I am on a somewhat tight budget, I actually allowed about $1200 for my flowers, and now am thinking of cutting somewhere else to make it closer to $2,000. Not sure, as I'm really not sure exactly the type of flowers I want to use yet, just wanted to get somewhat of an idea of what I'm looking at.

I would suggest looking around online and finding inspiration pictures (your bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, bouts, coursages, centerpieces, etc) and taking them with you to a few florist appointments.  Until they know what pieces you will be looking for, types of flowers you like, colors, etc. it is very difficult to give an accurate estimate.  Also, find out what kinds of flowers are in season/readily available in your area for when your wedding is.  Choosing peonies and tulips in the spring would be much cheaper than choosing them for a fall wedding, for example.

    I spent $2500...
    1 bridal bouquet
    2 bridesmaid bouquets
    2 mothers nosegays
    1 flowergirl nosegay
    3 single roses for grandmothers
    10 bouts
    2 large alter pieces
10 vases with orchid stems in water and floating candles for aisle
15 centerpieces...half the tables were vases with submerged flowers and floating candles (3 per table) and half the tables were vases with flower arrangements (3 per table)
Votives (don't know how many but a lot)
Miscellaneous flowers to scatter on cake table, guests tables and cocktail tables
A group of random size vases around large alter pieces

    * The vases and the large pieces from the ceremony were then used to decorate the reception area (this is a great way to save money)

    See pics...

Where did you go for your flowers? I just moved to WNY and will be getting married here next year.  You got a really great price.
