Zinnias, Dahlias??

Hi ladies,

I love the look of dahlias, and zinnias for weddings.  I don't know much about flowers, so are these both available for a July wedding in the midwest?  Is one cheaper than the other typically?  Also, I would love to see any pics you might have for centerpiece or bouquet ideas...any help is appreciated.  Thanks girls!

Dahlias are more of an autumnal flower...I'm really not sure about zinnias.

I think nearly any florist will be able to order in dahlias year round.  One of the links below says that in the US they peak in mid-July. Dahlias aren't too expensive, and they are a large flower, so you get a lot of bang for your buck.  I'm not sure about ordering zinnias through a florist, but I believe they bloom throughout the summer (my mom has always grown them in her garden).

You can get almost any flowers almost any time of year these days.  Florist get flowers shipped in from sources and growers all over the world, so it's not such a big thing anymore if they are in season locally. 

The flower shops I go to almost always have dahlias and zinnias.  But if you're worried, your florist can give you some good advice, or recommend something that looks similar that is in season.

I know I'm late on this but zinnias should definitely be available in the midwest in mid-July to September. Dahlias are later, more in late August to September. But as PP above said, florists can get them anytime.
