How many roses to put in a bouquet?

Hi everyone,

I am going to be making all of the corsages, boutonnieres and bouquets for my wedding.  I was thinking 2 roses in the corsages, 1 rose in the boutonnieres, 18 in the bridesmaid's bouquets, and 24 in mine.  Do those number seem reasonable?  I want the bouquets to be nice sized.  Nothing too big but I also don't want them to look wimpy.

Thanks!

PS - I'm having red bridesmaid dresses at a fall wedding, so we are going to order yellow & red bi-colored roses with maybe some hypericum berries as filler.  I think it will be pretty!

I'm using those Circus roses in my bouquet as well as the hypercium too. I would do a test run if possible just to make sure you like the size. Depending on how "showy" your dress is you may want a smaller or bigger bouquet. It sounds reasonable though. When ordering find out if the roses are going to be at full bloom (completely open) or closed. This will make a big difference on size.

Yes, those numbers sound reasonable.  You might order a few extra, in case you need to add a few more, or if some of the blooms are of poor quality or get broken.  It happens.

If you are petite, then then 24 roses might be a little big, but you'll be able to tell when you get it put together.

Thanks for the advice.  I think that I'll order enough for the numbers above plus some extra just in case.

I'm not petite at all at 5'10" and I'll be wearing a ball gown, so I guess it would be safe to errr on the side of ordering too many.

This bouquet has 35 or 36:

The brides bouquet in these pics has around 20 (plus 10 callas, and a few iris):

The first one was a HUGE bouquet!
    The second was more medium'ish.

I think 24 is probably a good number...

Make sure you order a few extra flowers though (maybe 10%-15% more than you "count" that you'll need).  There will be some in the bunches that may be a little crappy, or, you might break some when you're working with them.
