What kind of flowers?

Help! My friend is getting married and she seen these flowers on the website...but we cannot figure out what type of flower the one with the yellow center is...any ideas?

Re: What kind of flowers?

  • Those look like fully opened peonies.

They are generally available (ie least expensive) in the late spring, early summer, depending on where you live. They grow on a bush, and their growing season is dependent on the winter and spring that a geographic area has experienced. I have 2 peony bushes in Michigan, and they bloom for about 2 weeks, then never re-bloom until the next year. They are like lilac bushes, but smaller: a very limited growing season.

If your friend wants that for a bouquet, if her wedding is not during their brief blooming time, she may pay quite a bit for them. Florists can get them, and some greenhouses grow them, but Mother Nature is the best greenhouse and makes for a very brief blooming period.

    Good luck.
  • Peonies, just like Sue said. Some roses will give you that fluffy look without being so expensive.
  • Opened peonies.  Sue is correct.
