Carnation Centerpieces

Has anyone made round ball carnation cetnerpieces before? And how many stems did you use for each centerpiece? I am planning on making all of them and buying the carnations wholesale I'm just curious as to how many I should buy. The plan is to have half eiffel tower vases with small carnation balls and half low cylinder vases with carnations in them as well.
Thanks for any help!! :)

    Hmmmm?

are you talking something like a topairy??

Are you using silk carnations or fresh? Reason I ask is the ball must be an oasis for fresh flowers but if silk flowers ...round styofoam will do.

Would you have a sample picture?

    How tall?

if you are using eiffle tower vases I'd use 3 inch oasis balls that are netted. you'll need about 25 carnations per ball, but i'd budget 30-35 per ball to play it safe. this will make a final size of about 4.5-5 inches wide. Hope that helps!

You need 40 - 50 per 8 inch ball. If they are open.

I just finished making pomader balls using creamy white silk carnations, they are about the same size as real carnations.  Using 6" styrofoam balls, it took 46 carnations to make a nice well packed, full pomander.  Hope this helps and good luck to you and your fiancess.  My daughter is getting married in October of 2011 and we are already experimenting with carnation centerpiece ideas.
