Ordering flowers in bulk or online

I just read something in Bride magazine today about ordering centerpieces, etc., online. They had a few good options, like bridesign.com and globalrose.com. 

Has anyone tried this? I want to DIY my bouquets. The magazine had good things to say about ordering in bulk from all the sites, but I never know if they're legit ... 

Maybe it's just less expensive to get it from a local florist and DIY? 

Thoughts?

I was actually looking at purple peonies or lavender roses. Anyone have luck with those?

I'm definitely ordering online but haven't decided on a vendor. I've looked at:

weddingflowersofamerica.com
fiftyflowers.com
growersbox.com
theflowerexchange.com

All of them have generally good reviews, so I still don't know which one to go with. Opinions anyone?
