Bouquet Traditions & Superstitions!

Apologies if this has already been discussed, but I've been searching high and low all over the internet and cannot find anything to help me!! So, it's time for me to turn to my fellow Knotties!

I have a few ideas for my bouquet--I'm exploring everything from paper flowers to brooch bouquets, and I would like to ask my fiance for help.

It may sound silly to some, but I've been trying to stick to traditions (i.e., he hasn't seen my wedding dress & won't until the big day), so I wanted to see if there were any superstitions regarding my bouquet!

Again, even as I type all of this, I realize it sounds kind of silly, however, I really do want to make sure I'm surprising him as much as possible regarding my appearance, etc., but I was still thinking about asking my fiance's opinion on my bouquet.

So...any traditions/superstitions I should know about before I start spilling all of my ideas to him??!

Thanks everyone Smile

None that I know of.  I discussed my bouquet and all with my DH just because I was excited about it...his response "That sounds nice".  The day of our wedding he was like "Wow your bouquet is huge, is that what you wanted?"  He either 1) wasn't listening when I told him about it or 2) completely forgot what I told him.  I wouldn't stress too much about this because if your FI is like many, he won't care that much about the flowers until he sees it all come together on the big day.

I made my broach bouquet and it is sitting on the mantel as I type ... FH worries about the weight of it more than anything else.

There are no supersitions about bouquets that I know of. You may want to adk some of the ladies in your families if there are any family traditions that involve flowers.

In Victorian times, flowers in a bouquet had individual meanings.    Wikipedia and other sites have listings of what the different flowers mean.    Some of these meanings are not true to the desire for a wedding.  Yellow chrysanthemums indicate that you have slighted me.  Gladioli indicate grief.

It used to be the Bridegroom choose and provided the flowers for his bride..and paid for them... Hardly the case now however.
