Sunflowers

Anyone have any idea how much sunflower bouquets and/or centerpieces go for? What about how they hold up over time? I'm hoping for a purple and yellow color scheme...something like this:

Thanks :)

You should probably check with your local board. Flowers tend to vary quite a bit depending on where you live. In my area, that bouquet would probably cost $150-200 to have it professionally done.

Yeah, you definitely need to consult with a florist in your area. Ask for recommendations on your local board, or look on Yelp.com.

It depends on the time of year youre getting married, aka when they are in bloom. I am actually having sunflowers wtih royal blue. Since they will be slightly more expensive during our wedding month, we are also incorporating gerber daisies which have the same colors

Time and your florist are the biggest determining factors of cost. If your wedding falls in June, July, August and the very first weeks of September, you have a high likely hood of being able to get sunflowers at a reasonable cost without much hassle since that is their typical growing period depending upon vendor.

Florist prices will be higher, but I see that you're in Boston and I know they are opening a Wegmans in your area in three months (I work at a NJ one in their floral department ;)). They will have a full scale florist in the Boston store who are able to deliver to your wedding location if needed. I am not sure of how their pricing structure will be, but if we were to do it in NJ, it would just be the cost of your flowers (five stems of sunflowers is $6) and a 35% arrangement fee.

Also, if you're going for a purple/yellow color palette, you could use a deep purple alstromeria for a filler flower. There are multiple blooms per stem and last a very long time out of water.

Best advice is to always shop around and find a florist whose work and price you like. :)
