No flowers at the wedding?

I was wondering if anyone has every done or see a wedding with out flowers??

I am thinking about trying it because my bridesmaids dress are so intense with color and pattern that flowers would just get lost. Also as I was thinking about it, the only time I would hold the flowers are walking down the isle which would hide my dress, besides, I will be holding my dad's arm on the way down, my fiances hands durning the ceremony and then my husbands arm on the way back up the isle.

Anyways, let me know if you have seen a wedding with out flowers, how it looked or even post some pictures.

Thanks everyone!

I say if you dont want flowers then you dont have to have them. Many brides opt for no flowers due to price and allergies. There are so many other elements of decor you can have instead of flowers

There are many alternatives to flowers.  We will be using flowers and a lot of candlelight for our wedding.  I love the look of a lot of candle, I think it's beautiful.

My friends wedding had no flowers, partly due to time and money constraints, and it was still a beautiful ceremony.  The location itself was so spectacular that they didn't need any additional decorations.  If you feel like the bridesmaids still need to carry something, look around for a gorgeous clutch or, if it's outdoors, a parasol.  And you can give them as bridesmaids gifts!

A wedding I went to a few years ago had BM's carrying brandy snifters with votives inside & ribbons outside.  If it helps.

elahenara: i was thinking of doing pinwheels as well. We are getting married in September and I was just worried it would be too springish for fall. How are you doing them?

elahenara & Iseemiller: using pinwheels is just about the cutest Idea I've seen so far on here! Pure genius! It doesn't go with the wedding that FI and I are envisioning, but I'll keep that one in mind for others!

flowers are like balloons at a party....they add pop and zaz to the affair!! since your BMs have a busy dress, try going with a simple white rose for them or something.  and afterwards, you can get tall (about 12 inches high) vases and place them on your head table and they can be the decoration for that table.

but then again, you are in control of your wedding and you can do what you want! i just love flowers so much!!
