Need opinions and advice...

We are getting married August 25. Our ceremoney and reception will both be held outdoors, and our venue has lots of different types and colors of flowers growing throughout the grounds. Originally, I was stuck on the idea of having white anemones as our flowers, but found out they are not available in the summer. The only flowers I am planning on having is the bouquets, bouts, and corsages...not flowers in centerpieces. Our colors are black and white with accents of apple green (centerpieces will be vases with green apples, guys are wearing green ties, girls are wearing black dresses). I have tossed around the idea of doing wildflower bunches and not having them relate to colors really at all...I'm also open to the idea of paper/fake flowers as long as they don't look tacky. Any suggestions? Oh, my mom and I are going to be making the bouquets/bouts/corsages ourselves so the flowers will be purchased in bulk.

You could have the wildflower bunches, I think it's fine if your floral selection does not match any sort of color scheme.

Our colors were black & white with silver accents. Our wedding was last August 27th. I did make our centerpieces from bulk flowers, but ordered the 20 piece white rose wedding package from Costco for $399. I'm not saying you need to do this, just that there is an option out there for you if you want to stick to your color scheme.(they also come in other colors and have packages for flowers other than roses) We needed bouquets for 4 BM and myself, corsages and bouts. I ordered them online from Costco 30 days before the wedding. You can switch out the larger items in the package, for example we wanted more bouquets and did not need the centerpieces, so they switched that out for us.

I'm assuming you are going an inexpensive route if you are doing these yourselves. Check around the online sites lke Costco, Sam's Club, fiftyflowers. There's also www.californiaflowergrowers.com.

Also, baby's breath is really inexpensive and I've seen stunning bouquets of simply baby's breath. That has a garden/vintage feel to it

agreed.  I like the idea of a colorful mix.  Your colors (black, white and apple green) are really neutral in the world of flowers and would compliment just about anything.  I say get a mix of colors and have fun with it.

For DIY flowers in the August heat, I'd recommend you keep it simple and practical by using flowers that are available, and that will be durable.

All white, or green and white in daisies (a variety of mum), carnations, or alstromerias are fairly cheap, available year round, durable, and easy to work with.
