Acceptable price??

So I've never really bought flowers before and I don't know what to expect when it comes to getting flowers for the wedding. I'm just curious if someone could give me an acceptable price range to spend on flowers. I'm having 6 bridesmaids, 6 groomsman, my honey is in the military so no boutonniere for him. As for centerpieces I don't know how many tables I'll need yet so thats still up in the air. Just looking to prepare myself before going to talk with a florist so I dont pass out from sticker shock! Everything is being paid for my Tim and I so the less expensive the better :)

Thanks Ladies!!

I should add that I want to do white peony's for the ladies, white roses, puple carnations and maybe some other purple flowers for my bouquet. White for the guys too

I think you would get a better idea on your local board.  I was married in FL and live in CA and the prices vary greatly.

Make sure you get flowers that are in season, flowers that are a- in season  and b- local if possible are much better value than those that are not since they have to be flown in and your paying for all of that. I agree with the PP, it all depends on your area, so maybe ask your local board. Also dont be afraid to go to your local grocery store to see about flowers as well as the local colleges if they have any florist classes, this can save you alot of money to since its all practice for the students.

I think people typically plan on 8-10% of your total wedding budget to go toward flowers.  I think a bride's bouquet usually costs around $150, BM bouquets around $80, boutonnieres around $5-8 each. Of course the type of flower and how large you want the bouquets to be will impact price.
I would advise you to be up-front with your florist about how much you can spend. Have an idea of colors and style and what would be ok to substitute (for example, if peonies are expensive, would garden roses be ok with you). Florists can do a lot on a small budget, you just have to let them know what you can spend.

It would be best to ask your local board. PP's prices are not at all what I'm paying. My bouquet is 100, my BMs are 45 and boutonnieres are 12.  We're spending over 700, but that includes bouts and corsages for parents and grandparents and nothing for the reception.

Yeah you have to call florists in your area to see how much they'd offer. I'm in NC and having it in PA. I'm also making our bouquets. Right now, I can get 100 roses for $15 at Sam's Club, but they're much more at the Sam's Club in PA.
