I'm wondering just how many flowers I need to order. Is it necessary to decorate the ceremony site with flowers? 

And what about centerpieces? 

My budget for flowers is $600 but I'm hoping to go under that - the florist in my area has a wedding package which includes bridal bouquet, bouquets for my bridesmaids, corsages and boutineires for $299 plus tax (for roses), with extra bouquets being $24 and extra boutineires being $4. So that would be perfect for my budget. I just don't know if I should order flowers for decoration or buy different decorations that won't wilt.

You don't need flowers for decoration if you don't want them/it's not in the budget. There's a lot of great other options if you like them. Centerpieces that are simple candles always look nice to me, or ribbons for the ceremony site. If you're into/good at DIY, there are a lot of great options at craft stores.  We're not decorating our church for the ceremony beyond some candles in the windows because we think it's pretty as it is.
