DIY Flowers- I need HONEST opinions! :)

I've been working on a destination wedding and after consultation after consultation, I went from $1100 to $800 for flowers. Just for the wedding party. Does not even include ceremony and reception. Normal or not, in the budget or not, I just can't bring myself to do it! So.. I've been researching the real vs silk and want to know what you all think of this...

I made these myself- 6" Daisy Pomander "Kissing" Ball bouquets for my bridesmaids this October and the cost went from min $800 to $125! (Sorry it's upside down! )

I didn't vote but I think that you should do what will help you sleep at night.  If you like your silk flowers that you made then go for it.  If spending $800 keeps you up at night then don't spend that money.  You need to do what is right for your budget and what makes you the happiest.  Good luck!

I think that the silk flowers look very pretty.  So if you are happy with your project - go for it!  You can use that money someplace else (late night snack, fancier cake, etc) or you can save it for a relaxing honeymoon.

It also depends on what you are using them for, we are doing paper pomanders for the pews and I don't mind them because it is the pew and honestly no one will stare at them and judge because they are paper, they are there to make the aisle look pretty.

If you think the flowers look nice them I would say go for it. I honestly could not imagine spending 800 dollars just on pomanders but some people can, I would rather spend 125. So I say go with the silk but ultimately it is up to you.

I would save the money. I usually vote for real flowers, but in this case there is a definite exception. Your picture looks very nice and if it will save you that much money, go for it. In the end, most people that I've talked to have not ever said "I wish that we would have spent more money on our flowers."

pomanders take a lot of flowers even tho they are not all that big.....use the silk .you can always carry fresh flowers and your bridal party can carry what ever. Maybe to keep everyone happy just do a blend..some silk some fresh.

If that is a picture of what you made, they are beautful, and it looks like you did a great job on them.

If money, time, or special circumstances are an issue, then you shouldn't worry about using silk flowers.  Do what you need to do, and don't feel guilty.

IF you have a choice, and the extra money for flowers won't break the bank, I personally prefer using fresh flowers for the altar and for flowers that will be given as gifts/worn by the wedding party.  Because it indicates the sentiments of the giver (you). To me, real flowers indicate a more special feeling, while fake flowers are more for decorative purposes only.

If it were me, and I needed to save money, I'd DIY fresh flowers bought in bulk for the wedding party, and keep it simple.  The pomanders you made are really nice looking, and might look great as centerpieces or as aisle decorations.  They don't have to be hung from every pew/row, but can be done on every second or third row.
