Planning a wedding 3000 miles away

I am planning a wedding in Quincy, Massachusetts from San Diego (3,000 miles away).  I don't plan on going back before the wedding. How do I get flowers for my wedding.    I called a couple of local florist in Quincy and they said I needed to stop by and look at flowers in their shop.  That is not going to happen.  Because of family, we are having the wedding in Quincy, not San Diego.  Does anyone have experience with Costco flowers.  I was thinking of ordering flowers from Costco...Costco has really good quality and only requires a 7 day advance for ordering flowers.

Re: Planning a wedding 3000 miles away

  • Quincy has some fabulously talented florists and the Boston Flower exchange is one of the best wholesale markets in the country.

It would be such a shame to settle for costco.
Ask your Venue coordinator for some names of florists they like and contact them by phone, tell them what you need and like and that you need to do it all by phone.  Give them the reigns and your budget and let them rip!

Give the locals a chance...you will both do so much better!
Costco is straight from Equador and the most profit goes to the shippers...

This is what I did.  I planned my Florida wedding from Los Angeles.  I got floral recommendations from my photographer and officiant, called the florist and explained my situation.  The florist then emailed me a contract and in it it asked for all of my favorite flowers, the colors of my wedding, and if there was anything specific that I wanted from my flowers (I told her I wanted a soft feel with light colors).  I also made it clear that I needed to stay in my budget, there was no room to go over. <div>
</div><div>I got into town two days before my wedding date and was unable to see the flwoers beforehand.  When she showed up with my flowers, I was in awe.  Letting the florist do what she does best was a great decision and I couldn't have put together a better arrangement.</div><div>
</div><div>Good luck with your floral search.</div>
