Purple Flower Ideas for a Budget Spring Wedding?

My fiance and I are getting married in Spring 2014. This may seem far away, but we're spending the next year figuring out our budget and the "appropriate" prices for the different wedding components, and then we're going to spend the year leading up to the wedding actually putting our plans into action.

One area I'm totally confused about is flowers. I want to DIY the flowers, purely because we can't afford anything else, so I need suggestions for very affordable Spring (in-season) flowers, preferably in deep purples, but they can also be in white or light purples. The bouquets are just going to be a few wrapped stemps, and then we're going to do flowers in mason jars for the centerpieces. Suggestions?

I'm doing deep purple for my wedding (not DIY though), and I'd suggest calla lillies.  They may not be super cheap, but they're dramatic, so a little goes a long way (in my opinion).  I was happy with them because you can get them in white, eggplant, and even white ones with dark purple centers.  I'm not sure what their season is, you'd have to check with a florist.
