allergic MOH, Help!

I LOVE fresh flowers, my house is filled to the brim with vases full year round, but my amazing MOH has allergies and i cant imagine putting her through the entire ceremony holding on to a bouquet of sneeze inducing roses, any ideas?

Re: allergic MOH, Help!

  • I am a bride with horrible allergies.  Most people with allergies are only allergic to certain flowers...not all of them.  Ask your MOH, which flowers she is allergic to and then talk to your florist about avoiding those flowers.

Tulips, statttice, billiballs, hydrangeas, callas and spider mums have very little scent and might not set off her allergies.
  • I have allergies like that and can say that I am not affected by things that do not have visible stigmas or stamin, or are not very fragrent. Things like hydrangas, spider mums, and various prarie plants, like cone flowers and black eyed susans, have very little effect on me. I also have skin allergies that come from touching certain plants, particurally pines and was in a wedding with pine and hydranga bouquets. We wrapped some fabric around the places i'd be holding and I made sure I didn't let them touch me, and all was good. Definately talk to her and figure it out.

Have you looked into doing a combination of silk, dried, and fresh flowers? You might be able to minimize her allerigies and still keep some fresh flowers that you like. OR have silk flowers for the bridesmaids and find a way to minimize how long she holds your real bouquet. There are some amazingly realistic silk flowers out there.

  • Determine if it is an oli allergy or pollen allergy first... BIG difference...

And for her get her a bracelet or something beautiful to wear for the day and she will know it's her flower substitute.

Stay away from Lilies since those are the worst for all allergic people. they are both scented and full of pollen... so are alstromeria and tulips

Oil allergy can be determined by freesia or tuberose...

see what you can find out and work with the florist.
Low allergy blooms are hydrangea, miost tea roses, and most greens....
  • Can you or your florist make your MOH a similar bouquet in silk flowers?
