When I began planning my wedding Zimlich was the first florist that I thought about. They have been in the Mobile area for many years, and many of the local businesses use them. Honestly, I don't know how they stay in business with customer service as horrible as theirs. My florist was Ron, who does most of their weddings. He wasn't very quick to return calls (average wait time for him to call me back was about a week), but when I met with him in person he seemed extremely receptive to my ideas and excited to work with me. After our meeting, during which I explicitly stated my budget, he said he would be sending me an itemized print out. A week later I received the print out in the mail. His total was almost TRIPLE my budget. I called and left him a message and again it was nearly a week before he called me. When he called I told him that his itemization seemed to be nearly triple my budget. He simply kept repeating that he thought his prices were very "fair and just." When I told him that I didn't see how I could stretch my budget that far and asked him if he could work with me some on getting the price down, he said, "Well you should have done your homework about how much flowers cost." Therefore, he was insinuating that this was all my fault. Then, I told him I clearly stated my budget and he said that I "mumbled" something about some price. I informed him that I am extremely articulate and well spoken, I have a Masters degree and am an English teacher for a living, and that I never mumble. He got hostile when I once again asked him to work with me on pricing, and he said "Well I know how much those plates of food cost at the Battle House, so if you can afford that you should be able to afford any price for flowers." This meaning, that if I could spend a large sum to have my wedding at The Battle House that I could shell out anything for flowers. Finally, when I told him that this was real life and I had a budget I needed to stick to he hung up on me! So please, save yourself the frustration and heartache and don't even think about using Zimlich Bros for your flowers! I will be going later this week to pick up my vases and pictures, and I have another appointment with a different area florist this weekend.
