Bouquet & centerpieces match?!

So family members are insisting that the bridesmaid bouquets and the centerpiece arrangements must match? Is there truth behind this? The girls will have primarily ivory and golden yellow flowers (dresses are olive green) and the centerpieces will mostly be ivory and green flowers with a few sunflowers. They'll both have roses and maybe some hydrangeas but the girls will not have sunflowers in their bouquets. Opinions? Are they suppose to match? TIA!

I think that as long as the colors are similar, you're fine not matching them. I don't intend mine to match in anything but colors.

We're mixing up the colours but keeping wtih a simliar flower. I feel like as long as there is SOME connection... be it colour, type of flower, etc, then it will work! My bridesmaids will be carrying white roses, my centrepieces are red roses, the aisle decorations are a mixture of the two.

I did all white roses for the bouquets but had a mixture of white flowers for my centerpieces.

There are no rules about matching.  A girl on my local actually did her wedding with no real color scheme and mixed all kinds of flowers and it is one of the prettiest I can remember.  Her girls wore light green dresses also.

The flowers should coordinate; but do not need to match.

My bridesmaid bouquets and centerpieces will have similar flowers, but I think if they at least have the same color scheme, I don't think they need to be the same flowers.

No they don't need to match.  You need a larger flower like the sunflower to give your centerpiece height and dimmension.  Too matchy matchy and it will look dated
