I need a little flower education - I havent't contacted anyone yet, but I need to know what I"m asking before I begin this research topic. Firstly, my wedding location is a 4 hour drive away, we're showing up the day before. I don't think DIY bulk flowers are going to be an option given the time issue. If you think it's possible, tell me about it! I was going to go with Albertsons for the flowers.
(1) Do I need to know exactly how many mason jars of flowers/bouquets/bouts I need before I contact a vendor? I haven't contacted anyone yet, but I need to know what I'm asking exactly.
I ask because I do not know yet how many tables I'm going to need at my reception until June with the RSVP date. Since they are picnic style tables, I need two mason jars of flowers per table. Depending on the head count that could be any number of tables.
My venue comes with mason jars, but I don't think they will be accessible to me prior to the wedding for me to give to the florist. (2) How would the vendor give me the flowers? Temporary bundles? Should I round up my own jars prior and give them to the florist?
Then maybe a few extra jars with flowers for the gift/cake tables.
(3) I only need one bouquet for me, I thought I'd just use the flowers from one of the jars and then put it back after ceremony/photos. Can you see any issues with this idea?
Also, I have some photos of flowers I like. Some flowers are going to be more expensive than others. Do I show them my 1st, 2nd, 3rd options and then have the comapny price out each version? I'd like to know my pricing options. I am super flexible and don't HAVE to go with any particular scheme.
(4) Lastly, what the heck do I do with all these flowers after a destination wedding? I have to return the jars to the venue. Then I have a bunch of loose flowers on my hands in my cabin, and we're going rafting (presumably the next day) aka no time to run to the nursing home until 2 days after the wedding.
Any other ideas you can give to me for keeping flower costs low, I am all ears!
