Should there be a unifying element in my bouquet and my bridesmaids?

I want my bouquet to be white cabbage roses and ranunculus, but my bridesmaids are going to carry orange bouquets. My florist suggested orange dahlias, roses and tulips for the bridesmaid bouquets. Should there be something in my bouquet that is the same as in my bridesmaids, or does it not matter?

Honestly, it can go either way. When my SIL married my brother, her bouquet was completely different, and it looked fine. My flowers are a larger version of the BM flowers.

Or you could go in the middle. Have your bouquet the way you want with a few of the flowers that your BMs will be carrying. Maybe the florist can show you want they might look like (even if just a few flowres) so you have some idea of what it may look like.

It doesn't matter to an extent.  Like they just have to "go;" they don't have to "match."

Like BM bouquets of yellow gerber daisies might look weird alongside a bride's all purple orchid bouquet.  But that's because it's two different vibes, not because it's two different blooms.

its up to you. a suggestion is maybe wrapping all of your bouquets in the same color ribbon. or adding rhinestone bouquet bracelets (i found these super cheap on ebay). that way you have something similar with them and you dont have to change a thing.

No the bride is separate, you do not have to match the bridesmaids bouquets.  Their bouquets have to match their colours.  Bunches Bob, floral designer
