color/flower ideas? venue has lots of earth tones

Hi ladies,

The logistical side of wedding planning has just zapped my creativity :-\  I'm wondering if I can ask for any leads and ideas for flowers and/or color schemes?

My reception is at a hotel restaurant in Colorado Springs, CO. Overall, there's a lot of earth tones going on.  The dining room has a wall of windows, and there you'll see a lot of peachy/tan color going on, but the inner wall is red.

My fiance and his groomsmen are wearing tuxes..I'll have 2-3 bridal attendants in black cocktail dresses.  Overall, we're looking for a classic look.  Our pictures will be very important to us, so we don't want a super trendy wedding that will look really dated in a few years.

Thanks so much - I appreciate any and all ideas you can offer (-:

restaurant dining room

bar, off to the side

outdoor area for cocktail hour & dancing

What does the hall have to offer for centerpieces? Ask if they have a photo gallery of any other events/weddings that have been held there.

Being that your bridal party is all black the sky is the limit for your decorating!! I wouldn't worry too much about the red wall. The room is so big I don't think anyone will notice if you don't decorate with red to match it.

The room is gorgeous on its own. I am a big fan of using floral and non floral decor. Nature things like curly willow, grasses, and bamboo always make a great choice. I like those items because they can add height to a room easily along with color. You can also incorporate those type of things into floral centerpieces.

Another cute idea is to do cakes as your centerpieces. I guess it depends on if you are doing a big cake or not.

I wouldn't worry too much about the decor and photos. In all the weddings I have been in, and in talking to my photographer friends, they get a few shots of the decor, but most of the pictures are of the people...or at least the room with people in it.

    Hope this helps.

With that backdrop and your black dresses, I would avoid scarlet and fuchsia.

However whites, ivories, yellows, golds, greens, blues, oranges and purples would look great with that backdrop.    If you pick colors that the two of you love...who cares if it looks dated.  It looks like something that you love.

With that backdrop and black dresses.I would pick lime green, vibrant yellow and dark dramatic purple.  Maybe hydrangea, gerbera and stattice?

thanks so much, ladies, you've given me a ton of great ideas to think about - I so appreciate it.  As I said before, this is just not my strength.

NPP, I love the cake centerpiece and would totally consider it... except I fell in love with this cake topper from etsy.  The silhouette of the coupon in the letter "O" is custom-made with a photo of you and your FI..how sweet is that?!?   (pic below)

The floral/non-floral suggestion you made is sounding great in that we want to try to honor the mountain setting we're in ... while Colorado has beautiful wildflowers, it's not a lush, flower-filled rainforest, so a room spilling over with flowers wouldn't be quite right.

Magdala, THANK YOU for your color & flower suggestions. I can totally picture them if our venue.

Try Talia events in CO, her website is beautiful http://taliaevents.com. She may have some good ideas to compliment your rustic wedding.  My favorite is when you hit the opposite side of the color wheel.  Don't be afriad to have a pop of color mixed with the earth tones!
