Flowers

Red Roses...

Hello....

I would like to have red roses on all of the tables at the reception, except, I don't want to pay the florist to put together an arrangement, I want to Order wholesale and do it myself. I have a theory that right after Valentines Day the prices of wholesale roses will drop and it would be the perfect time to lock in my order for March...

Do you think they will drop?

  • Thanks everyone...I contacted an wholesale roses place and they said yes, it will be cheaper after Valentines Day, and the price is dependant on when they will be delivered...and since my wedding is at the end of March, I'd be getting a really good deal. I'm definatley going to order early and have them delivered either a day before, or a couple days before...roses don't last long, so day before might just work....

I would have them delivered on Wednesday.  You need time to process them.  Meaning you need to remove all excess foliage (except for the top two or three leaves) and all thorns.  Also you want to give the roses time to hydrate.  Make sure that the wholesaler includes some packets of flower food.  Make sure you have enough buckets so that you don't over pack your roses, they need room to breathe.  Also make sure you cut the stems at an angle, preferably with a floral knife but if you don't feel comfortable with that then a very sharp pair of shears.

After you process them, store them in a cool dark room until you are ready to use them.

  • I would definitely encourage a DIY route on this...and even if the price of roses doesn't drop drastically, you can still find inexpensive ones online.  I've personally used www.wholesaleflowersovernight.com.  The shipping was fast, the quality great, and I used their free floral arranging tutorials so it looked like a professional did it!  No one was the wiser, and I got lots of compliments.
