Flowers

Different Idea for flowers

I saw on one of my favorite shows where the bridemaids were given a clutch purse with a few flowers attached. I have decided to do this for my mom for two reasons:

(1) They are cheaper

(2) They are practical- instead of flowers that are going to die, I figure they can use the purse afterwards and I am putting their jewerly inside and the morning of the wedding i will give them the purse and have them open it up to find their earrings and necklace.

Any feedback?

If you choose to have bridesmaids walk with clutches, I would suggest you forego flowers altogether (for them).  Good luck!

I syggest a small flower deco for the clutch.  It will be more like a bokay-something special for them to carry down the aisle. A naked purse just looks like a plain old purse...same thing as the guests would be carrying......nothing special.

OP, I think I saw the same episode you're talking about.  I love this idea.  I think you'd definitely need a few flowers (inexpensive, local, in-season flowers to save money) attached to the clutches so they look more festive than just ordinary purses, as flower_diva said.  Plus, what a nice convenience for the bridesmaids, being able to carry their essentials with them and not having to stash their purses somewhere during the ceremony.  And I like the idea of putting the jewelry inside the clutches and giving the whole package as BM gifts.

it's a good idea, especially if you don't want to do flowers; I just don't like clutch purses (I'm not a purse girl at all, I don't understand the need for more than one), which is why I'm doing small carriage lanters with LED candles rather than flowers.

If I were to ever get a clutch though, I know I'd prefer a solid color one rather than something with a design on it, or if it is a design, not flowers (I personally hate floral prints); but again, that's me.

How exactly are you supposed to carry them down the aisle and not make it look funny?  IMO: The pics look kinda akward like they are showing a purse on HSN instead of walking down the aisle as a bridesmaid.  what would you really need a purse for while standing in a ceremony?  I personally would think it was weird if I saw bridesmaids carrying purses, but to each their own...

Well I can say as a self proclaimed professional bridesmaid ;) that I think it's a very practical idea.  I was in 2 weddings this year and the first one, my MOH speech got thrown out on me by housekeeping staff.  If I had a purse I could carry without looking silly, it would have never happened.  The 2nd wedding I was in, we didn't stay in the same place for more than an hour and never returned to the house/same limo for me to retrieve my stuff.  I was forced to carry a tote bag all day containing my MOH speech, my camera, flip flops for the reception, and my gift, and stash it behind random chairs etc. so that it wasn't an eye sore but that I'd have access to my stuff.

I think the purse is a practical, cute, unique idea that would allow bridesmaids to keep their small items with them. No, they won't need a camera during the ceremony :) but I think overall it's a pretty wonderful idea.  But like you said, to each her own.  We all will have our unique things that make each of our weddings unique.
