Modern father daughter dance song?

Hi All, I'm looking for a modern father daughter dance song.  I loved the cliche 'i loved her first' but my older sister just used that at her wedding so I don't want to do the same. Any suggestions on newer modern songs that would work?

What genre of music are you looking to pick from?

Your dj should give you a suggestions list, I know ours did. You could also try weddingwire.com, they had some good suggestions when we were choosing our songs for special dances, etc.

I wish I could help you more, but my Dad chose the song he wanted for our wedding which of course I couldn't say no.

We danced to Sweet Melissa by the Almond Brothers. I guess it had a special meaning to him bc thats my name.

Bob Carlisle's "Butterfly Kisses" is a great choice. While it isn't brand new, it's just as good if not better than "I loved her first. Hope this helps!

i do not think this as 'modern' but sort of different, I am using 'You are my sunshine' by Johnny Cash

I found mine but typing non cheezy or unusual father/daughter dance songs on google

If you want one similar but not the same as "I loved her first" you could do Tim McGraw's My Little Girl. I'm making a playlist or traditional and non-traditional songs and then giving it to my dad to decide.

I googled the same thing a couple weeks ago and one of the results was "I Will Always Love You". I don't know how people think this is an appropriate song for any point during a reception. First line alone ("if I should stay/I would only be in your way") gives that away.

I'd also heard of the Beatles' "Yesterday" as one. Yeeeeeah, no. "Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away, now it looks as though they're here to stay"? Really? My family had a good laugh at that one.

There was also another one I'd heard, can't remember the name or artist (female), POV of a daughter and the second verse referenced her wedding and how, when it was time for the father to give her away, he held onto her until she had to tell him he could let her go. Oh! It would be something about "you can let go, Daddy". It just gave me this mental image of a father holding his daughter for... not an uncomfortably long time, but an oddly long time given the setting.

Sorry, I know those aren't actual suggestions, but I found them humorous. Good luck!
