Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

I don't even know what kind of music I want

I'm planning my far-off wedding and I have a good deal of the detail figured out. We're getting married and having the reception in a beautiful warehouse with a lavender and brown theme.

As I was going over every little detail, I realized I hadn't chosen any music. I considered not having music, but I find silence to be kind of awkward. I'm trying to find music that will make everyone happy, but the attendants all have wildly different tastes in music. I'm especially careful about appealing to my finace's family, who are very traditional, with our friends and associates, who are quirkier as a whole, but with very different musical tastes.

I just don't know what I want in terms of music. I'm leaning toward live, but I want variety and I want it to fit in with the setting.

If you're hiring a dj they will be able to give you some suggestions and steer you in the right direction.

Don't worry about pleasing all your friends and family, because that's just impossible!  Just decide what you and your fiance want the party to be - do you want everyone up and dancing?  Do you want a more laid back cocktail party vibe?  Once you decide on a feeling the music will come.

And since you said your wedding is far-off, I think you ought to relax and sit on this for a while.  I'm sure inspiration will come to you!
