We want to use an alternative rock first dance song.. nothing traditional, nothing corny. Don't want any Indie music.. nothing too far out there, something by a band or musician that everybody would know, but not expect to hear.
My fiance is a huge Pearl Jam fan - but we want to avoid using Pearl Jam because there will be alot of it played during the reception - but we'd like something possibly along the lines of Pearl Jam.
The words of the song are important to us - don't want it to just be a nice sounding song, the words need to have meaning and be appropriate for a bride and groom dancing!
I recently found "All I Want" by Staind and really like that one.. but I'm still looking for other ideas and suggestions.
Thanks in advance!

do you mean like Daughtry? or ..do you mean more like 90's/Seattle/Grunge bands? b/c Pearl Jam could be considered classic rock as well.
i personally think you're better off w/ a classic song rather than a Daughtry or a Stained song....but thats just me!

I'm definitely leaning towards something along those lines, more than Classic Rock, if that makes sense..
like, all those songs in that list of 33, seem to "classic"...I'd prefer something more current..but not obscure. something people would recognize, but nothing that is overplayed (like Daughtry is SO overplayed)...
at least I have a year to find the perfect song!
Swing Life Away by Rise Against
Love Song by 311 (I know its a cover but 311's version is a bit slower and easier to dance to then The Cure's version)
If You Can Only See by Tonic
And I can't think of anything else

[QUOTE]I will always list Metallica-Nothing else matters as the best rock wedding song.

My sister actually did that for her first dance. Not sure why though, her and her husband are more of the country types, but I liked it
bush - glycerine
bush - inflatable (wasn't on the radio but it's got good lyrics and is wedding-ish related with the lyric "you're so pretty in white")
ben folds - the luckiest
counting crows - colorblind (i love the piano, the lyrics are weird/abstract though)
dave matthews - crash into me
dave matthews - crush
foo fighters - everlong
smashing pumpkins - tonight, tonight
stone temple pilots - still remains
Anthony Kleidis wrote this as a proposal for Flea to his girlfriend, so you will find the lyrics very appropriate.
