How much is too much?

I have a question. My fiance and I went to an expo and met with a Dj that we liked however there cost was $995.00 for 5 hours but we entered a raffle and we were able to get $100 dollars off to make it $895.oo for 5 hours including lights, set-up, travel, clean-up, and mics. Is that too much to be spending on the music or should that money go towards something else and try to find a cheaper dj company?

For more information pertaining to your area's pricing. Every area of the US is different with vendor prices. We got our Dj here in Seattle for 1,100 for the entire night (ceremony + reception) but if we had gotten married in Chattanooga, TN it would have ran us closer to 2g.

Depends on your location. The average price down here in SC is about 750 for 6 hours... but I know things up there are a bit more expensive so that sounds pretty reasonable!

I think that's a really good price! Personally, I think a DJ/band can make or break a reception, so I wanted to focus on getting a great DJ/band, even if it was at a little higher price. But like PP said, check your local board to see if it's a good price for your area!

I agree with PP. That sounds like an awesome price. I'd just check with the ladies on your local board to see if they have heard of him. And to see if they have any reviews.
