SA Wednesday

Tomorrow afternoon, finals will be over, and I'll be able to breathe a little (and sleep a little) again.  It seems I always end up with them all on the same day.  Excellent.

I'm officially ready for Friday.

Re: SA Wednesday

  • Awesome for you Amy!! I really have nothing besides the fact I'm tired. Like more tired than I remember ever being. We've been wishy washy (although heavily leaning towards no) about having another kid (H has one from a previous marriage) and this sweet puppy of ours, he has cemented the fact for me that we're good right where we are.
  • Good luck with finals!!! I do not envy those days (especially since it seemed like I always had one on my birthday).
I promise one of these days I'm going to AW these dang invitations. FMIL addressed all of them yesterday since she has great handwriting. One point for FMIL. :)

Today is my last test to give as a Plano employee (not counting STAAR and Finals, but I didn't write those).

And we close on our house in like six days.

  • Oh and Kylie - I was having major baby fever until we got our dog. My ovaries completely stopped ticking, and it's been almost 2 years.

Aww, how is Remington doing? I have thought of you several times lately. We just passed Week 5 with our one-year-old terrier mix, and it's been challenging and exhausting (several accidents in the house, I still wind up taking her out to pee at 2 AM most nights, and she destroyed 2 pairs of my shoes already). So I cannot imagine doing all this for a puppy, who really does need to be taken out every few hours and is 0% housetrained!!!

I have been exhausted too and I either catch up on sleep on the weekends or last week I had to take a sick day from work, I was so worn down I was feeling ill. I have a doggie daycare where I take her once a week so they wear her out for me -- I took her there that day just so I could SLEEP uninterrupted! Maybe your dog is too young for a daycare now (especially if she doesn't have all her shots and all) but is there someone you know that could take her for the day so you could nap?

This experience with a dog has definitely opened my eyes about having a baby and I can only imagine how exhausting it will be. I won't lie, I still have baby fever pretty bad though. :)

GL to you! H finished all his finals yesterday and it is like a HUGE weight has been lifted off both of us. He was working late at work every day, then coming home and doing homework/finals ALL night for the past few nights.

Today is my last day of work this week. We are taking a trip, starting tomorrow, to go to a friend's wedding. The city we are going to is the city where we first met -- we worked in the midwest a few years before moved here. We haven't been back in 2.5 years and I'm so excited to see all the places we first went while we were dating, and the bar where we got engaged, lol. Did I mention that we had a whirlwind 6-week courtship? It is going to be so crazy going back there to all those memories.

I will miss my dog though! She's staying at my in-laws (they have 2 dogs already) and she LOVES it there. So I know she'll have a blast, I'll just (selfishly) miss her and hope she's not having TOO good a time that she doesn't want to come home with us when we get back!
  • It sounds like being exhausted is in the air. I've been the same way for the past 2 weeks and it makes me cranky. I think I really need a vacation but that's not until early July.
Amy- Good luck with finals and I'm with you come on Friday!

Dog's do tend to cure the baby fever thing. Not that I would even think of another child at my age. But getting Bella a couple years ago makes it feel like I have that 3rd child and she even gives me lip.

  • Haha, I'm with you Marie.  We've got two dogs and my baby fever is a-ragin'.  I think it helps that we've had the dogs for so long, though.

  • Finished finals yesterday (thank God) - good luck with yours angelsong!!!

I definitely agree about the whole exhausted thing...plus, I decided to watch The Grudge with my neighbor and my idea of a scary movie is none soooo needless to say I was up all night worried some deranged demon child was going to come steal my soul....

Am at the point in wedding planning again where I am PLANNING on planning to do something...I can't wait for the ball to really start rolling again.

FI and I have 2 furbabies but I still semi - want kids soon after we get married, up until the point when they are being little turds. Then I feel like i'm good for a while.

Professor - Sooo excited you close on your house in about a week!!! That is SOOOO exciting!

Marie - That is so cute and special that y'all get to go back to the place you met! And i'm sure your sweet puppy is going to be sooo excited when you get home and get her from your in-laws.
  • Thanks, ladies! I need all the wellwishes I can get. Between working late, keeping on top of FI's stuff, wedding crap, etc I'm overwhelmed and completely unprepared. Getting ready to pull an allnighter tonight. Speaking of keeping on top of FI's stuff, this marks 3 weeks that I haven't been called to let me know how he's doing. It's supposed to be a weekly call. On top of that, I've been trying to reach the guy in Discharge for 4 weeks via email and phone w no response. I am completely unprepared for what he's supposed to be doing when he gets home. I'm sure winging it will work out great! .

  • Yeah, I don't miss finals at all.
GL on closing Amanda! So exciting when they hand you the keys :)

Did anyone see the costumes for the Met? Yikes.

I have been incredibly bitter lately and I need to snap out of it. My bachelorette party is this weekend so maybe that will help take some stress off.
  • I'm I the only one that JUST realized that Amy and Amanda's wedding days are one day apart?? I can't wait to see all the AW's!!! It's going to be madness!
    I'm so excited!!!

Professor - Closing on your house is huge! Congrats

Most my friends are married with kids so I never suffered from baby fever lol Whenever I feel like I want a baby I go babysit

To show how WT my upbringing was... I get girls from high school spamming and sending messages to vote for the online portion of their daughter's beauty pageants (totally Toddlers and Tiaras style).
  • Thank goodness I'm not getting those vote for me posts. It's been a long time and I know I just jinxed it and someone will now hit me up for votes.

I would message back and tell them I don't support child labor. Seriously, some of those moms make me sick how much they need attention. A 3 year old should look only like a 3 year old (not madonna/lady gaga/30 year old prostitute). End. Of. Story.

Angelsong I feel your pain! My finals end today so much luck to you on yours!

For only being 12 weeks old this week, he's doing awesome!  I feel we're about 99.5% house-trained at this point, and if he does have an accident, it's because we didn't hear him tell us he needs to go out.

    So, I struggle with:
--Biting.  This little guy doesn't realize the power behind his extremely sharp teeth, and my arms look like I've been shooting up.  It's typically really bad at night, and he gets into this lurching at your stuff, that drives me batty.
--Crate.  He did AWESOME in his crate at night the first 4 weeks, and just this last week, he all of a sudden won't sleep past 2 1/2 hours, and he's peed TWICE in it.  That said, he can last up to 5 hours in it during the day, and never pees.  I think the night thing is him wanting to sleep in our room.  So last night, I put him in there with us, out of his crate, and he did awesome.
--His need to be where you are at all time.  I LOVE him, but sometimes I need to get some stuff done.  We have him barricaded off in the kitchen/living room area while he's chewing and still being potty trained, and the second you walk out, he's trying to jump or crying for you to come back.  Last night he slept with my step-son for about 2 hours and it was heaven.  I got laundry done, dishes done, house picked up, etc, and it was HEAVEN!!!

I keep telling myself, he's ONLY 12 weeks old, and for that age, I think he's doing great!
We also have him completely leash-trained, so I walk him for 30 minutes every morning and the same most nights, and that ZONKS him out, which is also very helpful!

And,we started puppy school this past weekend, so that should be good for him as well.

For the biting, if we were sitting with him and he bit, we would 'yelp' like it hurt really bad and get up and walk away to let him know we didn't play like that. Now he only bites on my dad, but he totally provokes it and loves wrestling with him. He never bites me anymore.
And at 2.5 years, he still follows me all over the house. I think that's just a dog thing. However, he will follow me and lay down now, where he used to follow me and be all up in my grill.
Can't help with the crate, because we only crated when we left the house. He sleeps on the floor at the foot of our bed VERY well in his dog bed. He has the same dog bed in the same place at my parent's, too.

We changed our mind about doggies because everybody has been getting one--and they have all had issues they talk about soo much we got over the though of getting one of our own. :)

    Totally jealous Kathleen!!!!!!
  • Kylie, we have the biting issue too, although it went from Bourbon biting to teeth, to just holding our arm in his mouth to have it there. Ed would bite him back when he was a puppy (not hard, but enough to make a point.)

PS I love the pic of Remington in the dishwasher. Bourbon loves to stand there and lick the dishes as we put them in.

And god bless her, but my birthday coordinator is driving me nuts. I thought bringing in a second coordinator with a proven record would light a fire under the other one, but I am still having to get onto her to take care of her groups in a timely manner.
