I booked my 'caterer' this weekend. We're on a limited budget and so I've had to be creative. Turns out Carinos caters and they have amazing prices. So, my FMIL and I went to a tasting this weekend and signed the contract. Very exciting. Love the food, love the price.

I'm not so good with the advice... Can I interest you in a sarcastic comment?
[QUOTE]Oh and I also booked Melodys and Memories as my DJ too! She seems great I can't wait to work with her!

Congrats! <div>
That's who I'm using too! </div><div>
So exciting!</div>
How soon did everyone start meeting with their DJ? We booked Melody back over the last summer and haven't met with her. We're getting married 5/25. I don't know what we want at all yet in terms of music because I'm lazy and FI is super picky.
She found out work has me in LA the week of the wedding and already told me not to stress and that she'll have a timeline together for me tomorrow to follow for the ceremony.

KHollyTX - congrats on the checks! No need to put caterer in quotes ... both the caterer of my reception and RD were restaurants, and the food was delicious! The prices were so much better than the catering companies I contacted, it wasn't even a question to me. Even better -- on our anniversary or other special occasions, we can go back and have our "wedding food" as I like to call it!
Roseofdeborah -- have you googled to see if there are any reviews of the DJ that was suggested to you on the web? Even on this board? The DJ I used was $1200 and I couldn't find any reviews of him online prior to the wedding -- the only reason I had any trust in him was because he was recommended by someone I trusted (my wedding planner).
[QUOTE]Here's the link to Melody's website. $<strong>500 is a good deal and less than what Melody charges, but I think she's considered to be one of the more affordable 'good' djs. </strong> She seems very professional AND fun on the phone and I think you'll be hard pressed to find a bad review of her on here. Good luck! <a href="http://www.melmemdj.com/" rel="nofollow">http://www.melmemdj.com/</a>

<div>Yes!
</div><div>I just booked with her and I'm already very impressed with her just from the booking process. </div><div>
</div><div>Also, if you talk to Melody make sure you tell her you heard about her from brides on TK. </div>
I was also really impressed talking to Melody on the phone. She seemed very professional, easy to talk with, and in our first conversation she made it known that they are there to do anything that needs to be done on your wedding day whenever possible. I thought that was awesome and it sounds like she really sticks by this. She is running about $700 for us with ceremony + reception (so it's a little more than the $500 DJ you mentioned) buuuuut peace of mind for $200 isn't too shabby. Some DJs are great at playing music, but it can be hard to find a great DJ who knows how to read a crowd and keep the party going. I hear that Melody and her group are GREAT with that. I feel like it takes a lot of pressure of me trying to figure out what to play and when. HTH!
