Rocker chick seeks first song...

I am in a panic. I have scoured the internet for first dance songs and haven't found anything. I don't want to pick a song just to pick one. I listen to heavy metal and classic rock and obviously none of that is appropriate (my mother would probably drag me off the dance floor). I like the song At the River by Groove Armada but it's not very romantic. I love the lyrics to "I only want to be with you" but hate the peppy tempo and Vonda Shephard. It's just not working out!

My daughter and her husband used "Yellow" by Coldplay.  Their runner-up choice was "First Day of My Life" by Bright Eyes.  Have you looked into Aerosmith, or some of the classic rock songs?  Even Ozzy Osbourne has romantic sounding ballads like "If I Close My Eyes Forever".   Try googling specific bands you like and add "romantic sounding songs by...." and perhaps something will pop up that gives you ideas.

I have had the same exact problem! Only...my MIL would be the one taken aback by it. Tlanutei LOVE your idea. That's great that youre doing something that fits you and still appropriate!

If you're into classic rock, there are a TON of options. If you're worried about freaking out your mother with what you normally listen to, going with a more classic rock tune might be better, at least in my case, my mom was annoyed that we're going with classic rock over, say, Rat Pack stuff, but she would have totally freaked if we had gone with something more recent. 

We're doing Wild Horses by the Stones. My best friend used Something by the Beatles and my other friend did In My Life by the Beatles.

Sleeping With Sirens has a lot of love songs including acoustic ones you could try "If I'm James Dean, you're Audrey Hepburn" the acoustic version by them
