Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

Anyone know a good patriotic dance song for a wedding?

My fiancee and I are getting married in July this year. Since I'm a veteran and we're going to have a pretty good number of active duty service members and veterans attending, we decided to have a dance where all of the veterans and their dates join us on the floor. Where I'm running into problems is trying to pick a song. I'm trying to find something that is either patriotic in nature or speaks to some of the things we have to deal with in the service (ie. separation) and is also easy to dance to. I'm thinking about Here Without You by Three Doors Down but I need some more Ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

my first thought was something either big band style or 'old school' military...like what they would've danced to during vietnam or earlier.  I actually found a site that has a bunch of 'vietnam era music'

Again, I have very little experience with military history -- so, sorry if that info or idea was a bit off!  Perhaps ask some of the vets what music they remember?

You might want to check out the goo goo dolls - 'something for the rest of us' album. theres some military references and themes throughout that one - especially 'notbroken' and 'soldier' and 'something for the rest of us'

I second Nickelback!  Or "All gave Some" by Billy Ray Cyrus.  I know, I know, but it really is a great song!

America by Neil Diamond or Living in America by James Brown or Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen.  These would probably do the trick!  Eric http://www.allaroundraleighdj.blogspot.com/
