iPod Receptions

Has anyone used an iPod for their reception or known of anyone who has?  If so, does anyone have any advice or suggestions?  Other than hiring a dj or band :)

Yep, I know people who have done it.  We were going to but changed our minds.

    Suggestions...
    - get someone else to pick up the speakers and mics and bring them to the venue and do the sound check
    - assign someone to be "in charge", someone responsible who won't start messing around
    - hide the iPod out of plain view so people don't just start going up to change the songs to whatever they want
    - be ready for some unexpected mishaps :)

The people I know who've done it say the playlist-making takes waaay longer than you expect.  But once you make them it is reasonably easy at the reception - make one "cocktail hour" play list, one "dance party time" playlist, and just push Play at the start of the new section of the day.

I agree with naomikb. Also, make sure whoever is in charge stays on top of things. I've been to 2 weddings where this was done and one was great... but the other SUCKED because the guy that was doing it would get distracted, so they're be times when nothing was playing.
