DJ for Sept. 2011 wedding in Boston?

Hi everyone - and happy New Year!

My fiance and I are really struggling to find a DJ for our Sept. 2011 wedding in Boston. We are on a budget and would like to pay around $1000 (but willing to go up a few hundred if absolutely necessary). It's been a fairly unpleasant experience so far, with DJ companies saying they have someone available then never calling back, or booking the DJ even though we started to solidify our booking...

Anyway - I am begging for some help! Any recommendations? Tips? Any and all help would be GREATLY appreciated!

    Welcome and sorry, I don't know any DJs in Boston.

    I would try also posting this on your local board - on the left side of the page it says "Local Wedding Boards" and you can find the board that is closest to you in Boston.  They might have more suggestions for you.

    On that board you can also find Boston knotties and go through their wedding bios to see who they used to get some ideas and feedback.

    I got married in Ipswich and we used Peter from Groove Entertainment.  He was GREAT and we got several compliments on his set.  He kept the volume up but you didn't feel blasted out of the room, and he defintiely didn't have that stereotypical cheesey dj voice.  He's just a cool guy and took care of everything flawlessly.

    We haven't had the wedding yet but our DJ is DJ Ken Drew.  We really liked him and he was on the Knot's Best of Wedding 2010 pick.  He is under $1000 and will do ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.  His website is www.djkendrew.com/

    Did you try Groove Entertainment. There a little more pricey but maybe they can work within your budget. We booked them !  Also, we interviewed Curtis knight who might be more in your price range. Good luck .

    Greg Capozzi from C-Zone Music!  He is really great and is our DJ for our wedding.
