Affordable String Quartets

So I've always dreamed of walking down the aisle to "Someday My Prince Will Come" played by a string quartet. The budget for our wedding is quite small, but I really want to incorporate this special touch. Does anyone have thoughts or suggestions on how or where to find a reasonably priced string quartet in the boston area? Thank you!

College (or even high school) students.  The quartets I was in typically charged $75-100 per person in high school, and $100-150 in college.  Contact university music departments; they can forward your info to students.  For high school, there will usually be a music department or a band or orchestra teacher you can contact.  You can also contact private strings teachers in your area, as they may know students who have amateur quartets.  Don't be afraid to reach out; students are usually eager for the gigs.

I found a musician on Craigslist for very cheap, and I watched his youtube videos and then met him in person, which eased any concerns I had.
Also, try posting this on your local board to see if anyone has suggestions.

Or, go with a string trio or duo instead. Similar sound but less pricey. Cello/violin would work well for this song.

As a music teacher/bride/violinist, I second the ideas already posted- a duo or trio would still sound beautiful, and college or high school students will likely be your least expensive option (unless you have a good friend that is willing to perform with another musician or two as a favor).

A last word of caution on the low-budget thoughts: make sure that you agree on a clear price before the wedding that everyone thinks is fair and stick to that...
