Canon in D for bride?!

Hello ladies-
I don't want to walk down the aisle to Bridal Chorus but I do want a traditional/classic sound. I know I have a lot of choices, but Canon in D was my favorite. Then it was brought to my attention by a friend that it's usually used when the bridesmaids come down the aisle. Is that what most people associate with this song? Or does it sound equally bridal to you/have you seen it or used it?!

Thanks :)

I'll be using this song for when I come down the aisle. I love it and when I have it played, it'll be played on a harp! So, I think it can be used for either and if you love it for when you go down, then use it!

I think Canon in D is a great choice! I know we hear it all the time while planning, but it truly is your day. If Canon in D is what resonates with you, then you should definitely use it for your big entrance. :)

The Canon in D is a very popular traditional processional.  I have played it many times for the Brides entrance.

I have always LOVED this song. My very small wedding party will be walking down to this then as I come in, the pianist will play it louder to make it stand out. Go for it!

I am also walking down to Canon in D played on the harp. I have been to one wedding where the bridesmaids walked down to it but I have been to one where the bride walked down to it! It is soo much nicer and lighter than the traditional ones. It's a fabulous choice and if it suits you then go for it! :)

If this is Pachelbel's Canon in D, please be aware that there is a parody out there called Taco Bell's Canon.    Unfortunately, the parody is now stuck in my head when I hear the classical version.

Canon Finale by Michael Maxwell is a slightly different version of Canon in D.  Here is the link to youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gjei2Yh--Jw. THis is what I am using as the processional for my attendants.

Thank you everyone! I think I'm going to go for it. I hope that there aren't too many people who have heard the taco bell version, lol.

I think I might walk down the aisle to this song as well as my bridesmaids. The aisle to our church is only a few feet long so I think one song for all of us would be better than to have to two songs.

I always wanted Canon in D played as well and I am not a fan of the wedding march - however, after a lot of research, I found the Bridal March by Jonathan Cain (from Journey) and it's a really cool soft twist on the traditional one.  I actually liked it a lot and it's short - perfect for the bridal entrance.  I've decided to have Canon in D for the seating of my parents & grandmother, as well as the bridal party entrance (there are so many different parts of the song that are great so this will be a great chance to hear a lot of it).  Then, they'll play the Jonathan Cain song for me.
