What on earth were we thinking?

At the ballgame last night, we signed up for a 90 minute presentation with Silverleaf Resorts in Irving for a free vacation. Now that I am reading so many horror stories, I think it is best we forget about the $20 we spent and just know not to do it again. UGH!!

I haven't heard of them, but the worst that has happened to us is we went to the presentation, got our money back, said no, and never could get thru all the trip restrictions to make it worth our while...

It is HIGH PRESSURE sales too.... they are cut throat and will barely take no for an answer... stay far far away!

They are really intense. DH ended up on their list at some point (we didn't pay anything) and agreed to go. Well we ended up researching and then skipping it. They will call and call and call. I finally told them that someone in his immediate family had died and that's why we missed. I had to yell for 10 minutes to get them to stop calling.

Ugh...just don't go. They'll keep you there for hours and do anything to make you buy. And the vacation probably comes with crazy strings and fees that make it not worth it. If they call you, say no and "Take me off your list"

Legally, telemarketers are supposed to do that, but I don't know what loopholes there are if you signed up for something

My parents actually got free tickets to Busch Gardens doing one of these in Williamsburg, but my mom has nerves of steel and can be downright scary. Haha, she also brought 4 of her kids with her on purpose--I think they were more than happy for her to leave in the end.

Had same experience with a company calling themselves Pure Essentials, went to a 3hr Presentation for VERY expensive cookware with the promise of free vacation.  After researching found out the company used to be Bridaly Expo running the same scam.  The so called 'free trip' was a travel coupon booklet, which you had to mail a check to receive in the mail.  My research showed that NOT ONE PERSON has every went on a vacation from these deals.  So Brides-to-be beware of ANY company asking you to go to a presentation and try to sell you something promising a free vacation. Remember if it's too good to be true, it usually is not right.

Silverleaf is kinda shady.  I knew some people that use to work there.  They went through all the training and everything was good and then they get their first list of clients and made the calls and made a few sales and after reading back all the legal stuff they quit because they couldn't give the customers what they were "selling" and were not doing right.  I don't know how they are still in business.

We actually stayed at one of their "resorts" in East Texas because my parents won a charity auction and we ended up spending more than half our vacation at the Tyler Hospital because my dad was thrown off a horse that they had for trail rides that hadn't been broken yet.  Too many legal issues with the company!  We ended up suing them and they settled because we never signed release forms.  I would just forget the $20 and move on!!!
