Father Daughter Dance Song: Good or a Downer?

I am really close with my father and cannot find a song that I really like.  Most songs are seem to be county and we are not big fans of country.  One song that I love is Five For Fighting- 100 years.  Would this song be good or does it seem too much of a downer?  What do you think?Five For Fighting - 100 Years

I think it's fine, if it's the song you like.

What about Cinderella - Steven Curtis Chapman?
Or Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong?

If you go more classical/old-school (Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, etc.) you can get some really nice songs that aren't country and that your dad would probably like.

Did you ask him if he has any suggestions?  I'm letting my dad pick our dance song because I know the dance is more important to him than to me and he would be glad/honoured to pick something out.

To be honest.... I don't like it for the father / daughter dance.  But if you love it, do it anyway!

It sounds like you're not 100% sold on it though, so why not keep looking til you find something you really do like?  Here are a couple suggestions to get you started:

    My Girl - The Temptations
Isn't She Lovely - Stevie Wonder
The Way You Look Tonight - Frank Sinatra
Because You Loved Me - Celine Dion
In My Life - The Beatles
Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler

my dad and I are going to dance to the duet version of unforgettable by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole.

I told him to pick a song and I would agree or disagree..... his first choice was "daddys little girl" and i disagreed :)

OP - That song always makes me cry.  I would never be able to hold it together!
