How Many Songs does a band typically play?

How many songs does a band typically play throughout the night? We have a 4 hour reception and I was just wondering approximately how many songs we should be picking?

Have you asked them for their set list?  Usually you don't end up picking all the songs they will play since it is such a huge list.

How many breaks will they take?  Often they will break once an hour or every two hours for 15-30 minutes (depending on the group), so you'd need to find iPod/other music to play in that time if they're taking breaks.

I'd say most songs average 2.5-3.5 minutes in length, so that would be 15-20 songs/hour of playing time.  If they played the whole time with no breaks that would be 60-80 songs.
