Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

Recessional Song

We're getting married on the beach this Labor Day weekend, and we're using non-traditional music for the ceremony.

Bridal Party procession:  "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz (instrumental version)
Bride procession: "Unchained Melody" (orchestral version...very different from the first song but I wanted a dramatic change in the music and this is the song that was played for us right after he proposed)

We don't know what to choose for a recessional song!  I think I want something dramatic, right after "now pronounce you man and wife..." And still keep the instrumental, non-traditional theme, even though the genre of songs is different.

Any ideas??

Thanks!
Lindsay

We are using "Waiting for This" by Hanson as our recessional song, but with the lyrics. "When You Look Me in the Eyes" by the Jonas Brothers is very instrumentally dramatic, and is also great with lyrics. Or the end of "One Last Shot" from the Pirates of the Caribbean Curse of the Black Pearl. It is the music that plays at the end of the movie when Will and Elizabeth kiss.

  • We are using "Wild Child" by Enya.  I also considered "Calling" by Leona Naess.
  • We used U2's "Beautiful Day"

  • Hopefully we'll be using "Breathless" by the Corrs :)  I love that song and it's so upbeat and happy I think it'll be perfect :)

  • We are using The Beatles - "I Will"
