Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

I-pod suggestions and help

We are on a super tight budget, and the place we are having our reception has an awesome sound system that we can set up our I-pod to. I would love some suggestions on how to make sure we get good music that people will want to dance to! Anything will help, but keep in mind we can't to switch to any other option. Also, for brides who have used an I-pod before or if you have seen this before, how did it work?

Re: I-pod suggestions and help

  • A playlist is your best option so you don't have to mess with it  the whole time. Just make sure to get the songs you like in order or on a shuffle mode. There are allot of great songs out there.
  • We set up playlists - cocktail hour, dinner, first dance/parent dance, and then a party playlist with a mellow song thrown in there every now and then. We used a laptop instead of an i-pod, but I've seen the suggestion of protecting the i-pod with a password if you only want certain people to be able to control the music. We didn't restrict access and it wasn't a problem. We did end up with some crazy music towards the end that I wouldn't have picked, but by that point everyone was pretty buzzed and would dance to anything, so it ended up being really fun.
  • Thanks for the suggestions, we were planning on doing something similar to what you did balletdawn, and asking a bridesmaid or someone to control it when switching to different playlists. Thanks!
