Instrumental vs. Orignal with lyrics

Ok so we're trying to finalize our music list before we send it back to the DJ, and I can't decide between going with orignal songs with lyrics for the ceremony and instrumental versions by Vitamin String Quartet. Is it odd to go with the lyrical versions? I'm a huge music buff and not traditional at all. I wouldn't mind the lyrics , but I've never heard it done at weddings before. What do you guys think?

    Are you able to use a live musician at all for the ceremony?  I know I am biased, being a harpist, but it is really difficult to get a recording to end on a good note when you walk down the aisle.  Live musicians can ad lib a little bit and come to an end much more smoothly.  Does that make sense?

    We had the same dilema when planning our music. We ended up going with instrumental for the ceremony and originals for the reception. However, I don't think it's odd at all to play the lyrical versions at the ceremony.

    If the lyrics have a special meaning to you, then go with the lyrical versions, but IMO, the instrumental versions bring a new life to the songs, adding class where there might not be before. I also think the lyrics could be a bit distracting for some. If a song has special meaning, then use the lyrics and put a note in your program :)
