Using our engagement song in our wedding?

My fiance proposed to me by singing me "Can't Help Falling In Love" by Elvis and he wants to put it in our wedding somewhere but I'm very much set against it since it already has the special memory of him proposing to me attached to it and I just wanted to leave the memory untouched if that makes sense to anyone. I told him I wouldn't be against him whipping out his guitar and singing it to me again at our wedding but hes too shy to sing in front of all those people. Do I just give him and let him have his song or cling to my unscathed memory?

[QUOTE]Unscathed memory?  Seriously, hon, he wants to include it in your wedding, not beat you while listening to it.  I think you're overreacting.  You honestly make it sound like your wedding is going to be some awful experience that will ruin your previously happy memory of that song, which is ludicrous. DH and I were together for 5 years before we found 'our song'.  It was total happenstance and one of my favorite memories is of us both telling each other about it (we'd heard it separately) and then driving around for an hour trying to find it on the radio to make sure we were thinking of the same song.  We also had it sung at our wedding.  And he requested they play it on a moonlight cocktail cruise that we took on our honeymoon and danced with me on the deck of the boat (he's NOT a dancer, so this was a big deal).  I promise you every single memory I have involving that song is sweet and wonderful and perfect.  And none of them make the memory before them any less sweet and wonderful and perfect.

You actually made me laugh with the whole "beat you while listening to it" line so thanks for making my day :) I guess I am being a little bit crazy. I blame horomones! pregnancy makes you crazy! But I'm just going to let this one go youre right xD

Maybe you could use it for your bridesmaids processional?

My fiance' proposed to me during the song "Everlong" at a Foo Fighters concert, and I am totally using an acoustic version as our first dance!  My engagement was the best day of my life, so that song represents us now!  I think you should put the Elvis song in your wedding!

Maybe as a compromise, you could include it in a photo montage or play a cover version, so it's different/not so obvious.  Your fiance can record himself playing guitar in advance if that makes him more comfortable than actually performing live. Or you could use the lyrics as an inscription for photos, favors, cards, etc and then it would still be in your wedding.  Hope this helps!

I think you should use the song in your wedding. If that song came on the radio, would you change the station or think back to the lovely moment your FI proposed? I think it would be a lovely way to bring everything full circle.
My bridal processional is the song my FI was listening to when I first talked to him back in high school. Bringing back memories is one of the wonderful powers of song.
