Mini-Moon Location Suggestions

FH and I were not planning to do anything special after our wedding because it just wasn't in the budget and with him having started a new job in March, he has no vacation time. Today, my grandmother called and offered to pay for us to spend a couple of days somewhere and have a small honeymoon. Yay! :)

We are getting married on a Friday night, so the plan will be to drive somewhere that night and spend Friday night, Saturday and Sunday away. We are not closed to anything at this point (except maybe camping, I am just not sure I can rough it for my honeymoon...lol!)

Any suggestions? We are in Fort Worth for location reference. TIA!

There are tons of cute little towns with B&B's, antique shopping, etc. Fredricksburg, Glen Rose, and I'm sure a ton of others. You could also drive down to San Antonio or Austin and spend a couple of days. You could also just get a really nice hotel room in Downtown Dallas or Fort Worth and eat out and go to the spa. Just spoil yourselves for a few days.

That sounds so nice. I'm no help as far as suggestions go, but just keep in mind that you'll be tired from a busy day and you won't want to drive too far.

I'd suggest Fredericksburg too, if you are willing to drive. My parents go once or twice a year and love it.

If budget is no issue, I highly recommend The Inn at Dos Brisas in Washington (Brazos County): http://www.dosbrisas.com/

Otherwise, love the million B&B places in the Hill Country.  Fredericksburg is a great choice, also love Driftwood!

Gruene also has a B&B and is close to San Antonio or Austin and the food at the Gristmill is great.

I've went to a wedding last year in Fredericksburg and it was a really cool weekend.  Since Chris will still be in his spring semester when we get married we're going to do a mini-moon to San Antonio which was the very first road trip we took together.

There is also Caddo Lake in East Texas. It's gorgeous but is a little more secluded.

There are some REALLY romantic cabins in Broken Bow Oklahoma near Beaver's Bend State Park.   I know that is semi-close to camping (LOL) but these are super luxury cabins.  FI and I are going there next weekend.

Also, there is Granbury.   We stayed at a B&B there called the Inn on Lake Granbury and it was really nice and there are many others.

If your wanting to go farther then I definitely recommend San Antonio.  I love it there.  If you go to the visitor's bureau website they have hotel discount codes.  I highly recommend the Hyatt on the riverwalk, its super nice.

I love love love Fredericksburg.  We stayed at the Cherry St. B&B and loved it - it has a private hot tub that we used like three times a day.  LOL!  Plus you get a gift certificate for breakfast and can eat at a few different restaurants.  We plan to go back!

There's always a stay-cation at the Gaylord in Grapevine... it's beautiful and there is so much do to there without even leaving the hotel.

I love Fredericksburg also!! A very cute town! We went to Broken Bow, OK last spring with some friends....we had a lot of fun! Watch out for the kayaking...left bruised and battered (never been on a kayak before and rapids were not my friend!!!) - other than that we had a very relaxing and fun time!

You could also look into Possum Kingdom Lake - I'm sure they have cabins/lodging there....GL!
