Elaine from Sienfeld...

I'm not sure where else to ask this question, so here I am.
Emberassing, but true... I have been told that my dancing is comparable to that of Elaine. Granted, it's normally after a few drinks, but I'm sure it's not much of an improvement! My FI and I have insane schedules that don't allow for formal lessons and I was wondering if anyone has ever tried a DVD at home? Nothing ballroom style, but something that can help the white girl learn how to follow a beat lol Any and all advice/suggestions are welcome!! Including my sisters' wonderful advice, "just take a seat and enjoy the company". Hey, if she's not honest with me, who will be?! :) But I'd like to think there's some hope for me!

This might sound weird but start taking Zumba classes. After a few weeks, I was able to find the rhythm much easier.

    What are Zumba classes?

I bet Latin dancing classes would help

Many gyms offer them. Basically an aerobic dancing class with Latin music. Personally, I prefer the instructors that have a combo of Latin with a lot a hip-hop and Bollywood type of music.

I think it makes a big impact for non-dancers because you become more "in tune" with your body. As funny/hokey as that sounds.

LMAO sounds like ssoooooo much fun, but I see an ER visit and crutches in my future if I do that! But since I'm open to suggestions, I'll give it a shot! Thanks! :)

I would say find a time where other people aren't around to make you feel inhibited and put on a song with a good beat that's easy to follow.  I know rap music isn't really for a lot of people, but a rap song usually has an easily defined beat that is constant throughout the song.  Then just tap your foot or bop your head or something if you're driving, and try to stick with the beat.
ETA: Hip-hop also has easy to identify beats and might be easier to listen to.

As you get more comfortable with it you can move to songs with more complex beats and maybe get a little hip action going!  Even if you just move them side to side, its better than sitting out all the dances at your wedding!  Good luck!
