First, I do not need responses about why DJs are better. 

We chose a playlist in place of a DJ.  We selected all the music.  Has anyone been to a reception like this?  Does anyone have any ideas about how to cut the dead silence off the songs?

Download Virtual DJ, you can upload a song and cut it.  Also, if you're playing off Itunes you should be able to select "DJ" and it'll fade from one song to the other with no silence.
