DJ lighting for afternoon wedding?

Hello All,

I am getting married at the Hilton Garden Inn in Staten Island this summer. It is an early afternoon reception in the Persimmon and Trevi rooms. One DJ told us we should have some lighting for the dance floor and another told us there really is no need. Both of those rooms get lots of light during the day and we probably would not see the effect of the lighting. We are on a tight budget and were wondering if anyone has experienced an afternoon event there with a DJ and what do they think of the need for some lighting?

Thanks!

This is an international board, you are more likely to get responses if you post on one of the local boards (see links to the left under Local Wedding Boards).

I would move the post for you but there isn't a specific board for Staten Island, so I suggest you post on both the NJ and NYC boards.  Good luck!

  • I took a look at their virtual tour and I think you'll be fine without lighting. The large windows should bring in lots of light and I'd imagine those huge chandeliers are dimmable.

Personally, I rarely recommend lighting for afternoon weddings to my clients unless there are not any windows.
