Cutting a song?

Does anyone know how to cut and piece a song together?  I have a song picked out for my processional but I want it to be shortened and want to use portions of the song that are not consecutive.  Thanks for the help!

    I did this, but I'm only using it for my RD. My DJ will do a better job. BUT I have a sound recorder on my computer so...

    1. I pulled up the songs I wanted
    2. started the recorder 
    3. then paused the recorder when I wanted to start a new song
    4. Then started the new song. I repeated this for as many songs as I wanted together. Make sure you're silent though, and turn up the volume. It's easier with two computers, but can be done with one. GL! PM me if you have questions.

    being a gymnast, we piece together songs for floor routines all the time.  I use a program called Audacity (its free).  You load the song in and can fade/cut/splice whatever you need to.  Just be sure to make SMOOTH cuts!  its a huge pet peeve of mine when things are cut off the beat, or are too obvious =P
